We often say ‘People Move’. So do organisations!
For almost 40 years, our staff and volunteers have been based at 115 Old Street in Central London. Over the years we’ve worked in this iconic building to help tens of thousands of people to get documented or stay documented, to become citizens and to receive justice. It was also the first home of our partner organisations ILPA (the Immigration Law Practitioners Association) and BID (Bail for Immigration Detainees).
Why are we moving?
In recent years it has become harder and more expensive to maintain this 150 year old building. We want to make sure our growing staff and service users have a safe and accessible space in which they can work well together, and the cost of making these essential improvements to our home on Old Street is simply too high for a small charity. So, in 2019, our Trustees agreed to start the process of relocating JCWI into new premises.
