The Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants (JCWI) is an independent national migrants’ rights charity, which works to defend and extend the rights of all people who move to the UK, whether they move by force or choice. We were founded by migrant-led and anti-racist groups in Southall in 1967. For over 55 years, we have been a leading voice in the fight for migrant justice, calling for systemic radical change to the immigration system and standing against racism and hostility towards people who move. We do this by rooting all aspects of our work in humanity, compassion, anti-oppression and anti-racist values.
