Savan is a former asylum seeker. He is currently a project manager for the Refugees for Justice project at Citizens UK, Savan is also an affiliated researcher at Glasgow University UNESCO-RILA, and  a freelance journalist covering refugees and asylum seekers stories and issues. He was elected to be a Co-Chair of Young Academy Scotland at the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Previously, he was a director of an organisation called Zagros Community Organisation. Savan studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics, and a course on Justice, Harvard University,  and previously studied sociology, and psychology.
