Satbir joined JCWI as Chief Executive in September 2017. Prior to this he’d spent roughly a decade developing campaigns and political strategies for people’s movements and campaign groups across the world and working as an adviser on peacebuilding, good governance and human rights to the UN and the World Bank.
Satbir was born in Essex to parents from India and Uganda and has been either an immigrant or an emigrant his whole life. He studied at Oxford and SOAS and was a Fulbright Scholar at Columbia University. He speaks Hindi, Punjabi and French.
Satbir firmly believes that he has the best colleagues in the world and when he’s not with them he’s usually cooking, tweeting or working on his allotment.
