This report from 2015 examines the impact of provisions in the 2014 Immigration Act to force private landlords to act as border guards, refusing to rent to anybody found without valid leave to remain.
The research found that over a quarter of landlords surveyed would be reluctant to rent to somebody with a “foreign-sounding” accent.
