We also want to raise money for a charity that helps asylum seekers and refugees, as she centered her dissertation around this topic. Darcy wanted to bring awareness to this issue of media perception of refugees and the difficulties faced by asylum seekers. Although Darcy passed away from complications relating to her benign brain tumor, we feel this cause resonates more appropriately as Darcy was keen to make a change in this field. In particular, JCWI has a team of lawyers supporting people to secure their immigration status and rights in the UK, as well as a campaigns and communications team working to get fairer immigration rules. They aim to change the media narrative around people who move, as well as working closely with politicians to secure changes to cruel and discriminatory immigration policies. The total walk is 3000km which will be walked by us as a team starting 16th March finishing on her 21st birthday, April 16th.
