But it\u2019s estimated that nearly 1.4m people in the UK have \u2018No Recourse to Public Funds\u2019 (NRPF) stamped on their visa, leaving them without the basics.<br \/>\nOur new research shows the NRPF policy is a public health risk, and increases the risk of destitution amongst migrant families:<\/p>\n<p>a fifth of migrants surveyed, who were working before the pandemic, lost their job since it started;<br \/>\nalmost 75% of those were subject to NRPF, unable to access support from the government;<br \/>\n44% of those in hard-hit sectors cleaning and hospitality lost their jobs, and all of these were subject to NRPF;<br \/>\nmigrants with NRPF were 52% more likely to say that it was not possible to safely self-isolate in their home.<\/p>\n<p>We are calling on the government to suspend NRPF in tomorrow\u2019s budget \u2013 sign our petition now.<br \/>\nSign the petition<br \/>\n\u201cIt\u2019s always been a shadow that hangs over things, wh&#8230;<br \/><embed style=\"cursor: pointer;\" src=\"\" type=\"\"><\/embed><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Now more than ever, we all need the guarantee of a roof over our heads and food to eat.
