We all deserve to live in a home that is safe and secure. But this Government is trying to trash vital housing protections. Right now, this Government is pushing through a new law that would mean people seeking sanctuary in the UK could be housed in places so unsafe that it would be illegal to rent them to British citizens. If this law goes through, landlords could rent out properties that don’t have basic fire protections, with unsafe gas and electrical appliances. Children could be sleeping in rooms less than 4 square metres.\u00a0 With this proposal, this Government is sending a very clear message – it believes some people are more worthy of protection than others. We think that’s wrong.
